Nomads refer to individuals or societies that live outside of major political centres, and instead either reside at various outposts or even as roaming caravans.
Most individuals are born into Nomadic 'clans', though some join during their lifetime or leave to seek out another life — or even a different clan. A lifestyle of mutual support and inter-reliance on individuals within a clan often lends to close-knit societies, and often has no more than 100 persons, including children.
With such small population groups and a more versatile lifestyle, Nomad culture can be extremely adaptable, with each clan having its own ideals, objectives, and cultural mores, though they can often be 'loosely' grouped.
Some are little more than bandits, forming as tribes of individuals that survive outside of cities and see their own survival and prosperity as an ultimate goal at any cost. They attack convoys for resources, steal anything they can find, and frequently come into conflict with other clans. In exchange, bandit clans are often the largest and may even have up to a thousand people in some circumstances in a constantly changing cycle of deceased and newly recruited members.
Others prefer a scavenger lifestyle and keep a distance from both cities and bandits, taking the approach of true survivalists, using anything they can find and repurposing it to their needs. They often stay out of everyone else's way, and trust others will do the same for them.
Between these two extremes lay many variations, from those that work with cities and corporations, trading their knowledge and expertise in the wilds for resources — to beast-master clans that take a more druidic approach. All can be destructive, harmonious, practical, or anywhere in between.
