Plion is Niyala's second moon, the furthest of the two, and with the slowest orbit. Its orbit takes a total of 41 days.
The unusual composition of Plion's surface gives it a colour that seems to change based on its phase and the viewer's angle, suggesting it has strange, refractive properties. When full, it appears as a cerulean blue — but while waxing or waning, it approaches pale violets in tone. Plion reflects a large amount of light, and unlike the moon Noraz, its cycle seems to have some effect upon the resonance, lending to many theories about its impact upon magic.
By the late-modern period, Plion has been visited twice by astronauts. The first mission unfortunately ended in tragedy, as the vessel Zephyr-18 was struck by debris only hours away from its planned re-entry into Niyala's atmosphere. The second visitation was successful and heavily aided by being managed from Phoenix Industry's own orbital platform. The astronauts of the Ristel-8 mission have since been lauded as heroes and evidence of the benefits of corporate and governmental cooperation.
Plion is visible to the naked eye when illuminated, though appears substantially smaller on account of its distance.
